There was an epic battle between seasons this year. Winter insisted on maintaining its dominance well into what should have been spring. Winter is still in power on our mountains. I passed over the top just over a week ago. I couldn’t believe how much snow is still up there. It is melting, but stubbornly.
I’ve always enjoyed taking pictures of spring flowers. The beauty of spring is so fleeting. The flowers are here for only about a week, then they disappear until next year.
Images 1, 11, and 14 in this post are from my favorite tree to photograph. I believe it is a pink tulip tree. There is one that I know of in Cedar City. It grows on the SUU campus along the north wall of the Auditorium. I look forward to its blooms every spring. As spring approaches, I walk past this tree every day to monitor its progress. This year it snowed on those beautiful blooms.
One great thing about living in this area is that I can do the whole spring flower thing all over again up on the mountain. When the snow eventually melts and flowers start to bloom at the higher elevations, we will be well into summer. My dad and I usually take at least one trip up into the mountains somewhere in Utah to photograph wild flowers. I’m excited to see what all this extra moisture will do for our mountain flowers.
