Andi & Tyler – Wedding Formals

Tyler and Andi got married in June. We did their formals a few weeks before the wedding. It was an awesome time to do them. The magnolia tree was in full bloom as well as several other trees. Very cool.

St George Contemporary Dance Concert

This was the 4th annual St George Contemporary Dance Concert. Held at the O.C. Tanner Amphitheater in Springdale Utah.

My wife has been a part of it a few times now. The first time she was in this concert, I was not very thrilled. Don’t get me wrong, I highly encourage my wife to pursue her dancing whenever she can. This one required a lot of traveling though. It was a pain. She had to drive from Cedar City to Springdale quite a few times for rehearsals, over an hour one way. After I saw the first concert, I was convinced that it was worth it.

I wish this concert was more well known. If you didn’t see it, you missed out on an amazing experience. This year, we made a vacation out of it and stayed in Springdale for several days. It was nice because we didn’t have to drive back and forth for the dress rehearsal and two performances. We had a really nice relaxing time. The weather was perfect. The concert was amazing and my wife and I just enjoyed being together.

My wife is pretty amazing. She choreographed one of the dances and also performed in her own dance. In addition to that, one of the dancers in another dance got sick and was unable to perform the second night. My wife filled in for her. She learned the dance an hour before the concert started and performed it beautifully.

I also must mention that the mime dance, titled “Spinning Time,” was one of the most amazing dances I have ever seen. I cried all three times I saw it. I can count the number of times I have cried on one hand. Absolutely amazing.

I think my wife and I have a new tradition. I look forward to next year and we will definitely be making a vacation out of it like we did this year.

CVHS Dance Poster Shoot

The concert took place a month ago. This post is late, but I still wanted to talk about it. In keeping with the tradition that we set, we did a photoshoot specifically for the dance concert poster. I had been to this particular place before, but hadn’t ventured very far into this tunnel. I happend to be out there a few days before this shoot and found part of it with openings in the ceiling. I loved the light. I chose this location specifically for the lighting.

The day of the shoot, we arrived at the tunnel and found that there was water running through it. In all of my previous visits, it had been dry. We decided to go in anyway. There were six of us total and we all got wet and it wasn’t exactly warm. They were all troopers and braved the wet and cold. I was wearing a jacket. The dancers were in these dresses and had no shoes on. I think it took a while for them to thaw out after the shoot.

I love the results of this shoot. It was hard trying to decide which one to use for the poster. We finally settled on the first one (above).
