Cedar City portrait and wedding photographer.

Welcome to my blog!

I love photography! Pretty cliché I know. There is just so much to learn and explore. So many things to try. But the main reason I love photography is this "Photography is about savoring life at 1/100th of a second." - Marc Riboud

I am a portrait and wedding photographer in Cedar City Utah. I also love landscape photography, but every great landscape I encounter, I can't help but think how much better the shot would be if I stuck a person in it.

Help Portrait 2010 – Cedar City Utah

I don’t mean for this to be a “hay look at me” kind of post. I debated even posting anything this year about Help-Portrait. However, I think there are a bunch of people that need to be thanked and recognized.

We had another great Help-Portrait event this year in Cedar City. We held it at Kolob Regional Care Center in Cedar City, UT. If you are not familiar with Help-Portrait, here is a brief explanation. It is simply photographers finding someone in need, taking their portrait, printing the portrait and giving it to them. It is simply a way to give back to the community. It is not about building a portfolio of photos or sharing the great portraits that we took on our blogs. Most of the time, that is what we love to do. Put our photos out here for everyone to see. This is different. Taking that off the table makes this a completely different experience. Rewarding. Heart warming. It is human interaction on a very raw level.

I am grateful for places like Kolob Regional and the people that work there. I am reminded of my own Grandmother who passed away recently. She spent her last month in the care of people very similar. A big Thank You to all of you who have cared for another when age or disease has settled in.

The day was all about treating the residents there, and the people who care for them, special. Special thanks to Alyssa, Britnie, and Marci from Evans Hairstyling College for donating their time and skills to do the ladies hair. It helped make them feel extra special.

And finally, thank you Terral, Jen, and Noelle (pictured above) for helping make the event a success. Couldn’t have done it without you. Really.
